The Learning Disability Partnership
The Government wants to make sure that:
- You are treated fairly
- You are as independent as you can be
- You can choose how you live your life
- You can be a part of your local community
To make sure this happens the Government wrote a plan called Valuing People. This was reviewed and the updated plan called Valuing People Now was published in 2008.
Valuing People Now still wants councils to have Learning Disability Partnerships which work to make people's lives better.
In Reading our Learning Disability Partnership is made up of the following members:
- People with learning disabilities
- Family carers
- Staff from social services
- Staff from health
- Staff from education
- Staff from other organisations who work with people with learning disabilities
- Staff from other services
